Winters are here and with winters come cracked heels! All the exfoliation and moisturization do not seem to be enough during this time. our feet need special care during this time as our feet are often the most overlooked part of our body. In today’s post let’s talk about some tips and tricks that will help to keep your feet happy in these colder months.
So let’s get started!
Soak and cleanse your feet
Take lukewarm water and soak your feet in it for about 15 minutes. This will loosen up all the dead skin cells, flaky skin and calluses around your feet area. Don’t use hot water as it will aggravate the dry skin even more. You can also add a coin sized amount of shower gel to your water solution to cleanse your feet.
Scrub away dead skin
Exfoliation will help to remove dead skin cells from your feet and heel and would also help to give them a nicer and smoother texture. While you may use any fancy scrub to exfoliate but I always like to DIY these things. Here is a quick scrub recipe!
Things you will need-
- Olive oil or coconut oil
- Brown sugar
Mix your chosen oil and sugar together to achieve the desired consistency of a scrub. Mix it well and apply on your feet area. You can use circular scrubbing motions and wash it using lukewarm water after few minutes.
Use a foot mask
Now you can choose to skip it if you are pressed for time. you can make an easy-peasy foot mask to pamper your feet further.
Things you will need-
- 1 ripe banana
- Lemon juice
Mix both of them together and apply on your feet. Leave them on for 15 minutes. Wash it off using plain water.
Moisturize them well
Last step is to use a good quality foot cream and apply on your feet liberally. You can also use coconut oil to massage into your skin.
After following all the steps, wear your socks to keep them covered during day time. However, I would suggest you do all these steps at night so that you can directly go to sleep for complete relaxation of your feet.
You can follow these steps at least once a week to get happy feet which are moisturized and well taken care of!
